Georgetown Fair Queen: Fair week with 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Danielle Brown

2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Danielle Brown was at the fair grounds bright and early on Tuesday for her first full day as fair.  Queen Danielle started in the barnes with the livestock shows and radio interviews.  The Georgetown Fair Queen doesn't get any rest during fair week - we saw Queen Danielle doing her first radio interview just moments after she was crowned on stage, and she was back at it Tuesday morning, plus we heard plans for the queen and court to do another radio interview later in the day after we left.  Queen Danielle was on the grounds Tuesday morning with Amie Harvey and Ashley Wahlfeldt.

We were also thrilled to be with Queen Danielle when she went to see Toyota Scion of Danville to pick up her car for the week - a orange convertible Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder.  Toyota Scion of Danville is a good friend of the Georgetown Fair Queen, not only providing the queen's fair week convertible, but also sponsoring the contestant t-shirts.  And when you see the Georgetown Fair Queen riding in parades in the community, Toyota Scion of Danville most often provides her convertible.  Miss Georgetown is proud to be sponsored by Toyota Scion of Danville, and Queen Danielle was grinning from ear to ear when she saw her fair week car.

Its been an exciting week so far with the 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Queen Danielle Brown, and we can't wait for motocross and demolition derby later this week.  Plus we will be going to the state fair with Queen Danielle, so check back often to see the pictures right her at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2013 Contestant Fair Grounds Tour

With the 2013 Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant only a day away, we spent the afternoon on the fair grounds with the contestants as they toured the barns and buildings.  The contestants viewed the exhibits and even got a chance to wash a cow, which is really just a sneak peak of how the 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Queen will spend her week at the fair.  It was pretty neat to photograph the contestants knowing that one of them will be named queen on Monday, and we can't wait to get things going with the 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Queen and her court.  Come and say hello if you see us at the pageant, but if you can't make it remember you can see pictures of the new queen very soon right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: Contestants in the 2013 Georgetown Fair Pageant at Rehearsal

With the 2013 Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant coming up Monday, August 5th, we were lucky to be at the fair grounds for the final onstage rehearsal with the 2013 contestants.  Contestants in the 2013 Georgetown Fair Queen pageant will compete onstage in evening gown, swimsuit, and pop question. While all the contestants will compete in private interview and speech in the afternoon, only the final five will give their speech onstage during the evening pageant.  This is new for the Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant, so if you haven't seen speech competition this is a great year to watch the pageant.

The contestants have been working hard to get ready for the pageant ever since things got kicked off at the contestant tea orientation on July 7th, and we can't wait to see who is crowned the 2013 Georgetown Fair Queen!  Find out who it is and see exclusive pictures from the official photographers of the Georgetown Fair Queen, right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2013 Queen Contestants at Fair Family Evening

On Thursday, August 1st we travled to Georgetown for the fair family dinner.  We think this was our third fair family dinner, and we can't say enough wonderful things about a fair pageant, fair board and community that have embraced us a big supporters of the Georgetown Fair Queen.  We were on hand to photograph the beautiful contestants competing for the title of Miss Georgetown Fair Queen, but was really good to see so many people we admire and hear about the history of the Georgetown Fair.  This year is the 75th Georgetown Fair and it is sure to be one of their best.  Listening to Scott Davis talk about each fair board director and how they left a mark on the Georgetown Fair was a lot of fun, and it feels good to be a part of something that does so much good in the community.

Among building improvements, big grant projects and stories about families and dedication to the fair, it was especially good for us to hear Scott brag about Molly Reeves, the first Georgetown Fair Queen to win the Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant and represent Georgetown all year during her summer appearances.  As the official photographers of the Georgetown Fair Queen we see the fair through the experiences of the queen, and this year we are proud to photograph the Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant for the fifth time.  At fair family dinner, pageant directors Karen and Jill talked about the $4,000 in scholarships being awarded at this years pageant, but they also highlighted the work of the fair queen in the community and how the annual princess luncheon with the queen grown to become a signature event.

The 2013 Georgetown Fair Queen will be crowned on Monday, August 5th at the Georgetown Fair Grounds and we can't wait to meet our next queen!  The Georgetown Fair Queen will hit the ground running, spending the week at the fair with her court, serving as the official hostess and just generally having a blast at the showcase events, motocross, demo derby and everything else the fair has to offer.  And keep reading Josh and Joe Travels to follow along with the 2013 Georgetown Fair Queen as she heads to Springfield for county fair day at the Illinois State Fair.  Get ready for an exciting year, and keep an eye on the contestants as they head for pageant night and we see a new Georgetown Fair Queen crowned, with lots of pictures right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2013 Contestant Orientation with Illinois County Fair Queen Amelia Martens

On Sunday, July 7th we traveled to Georgetown to be part of the 2013 Contestant Tea.  The Contestant Tea is the first orientation event for participants in the 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant, and we are excited to know that among the contestants is our next queen.  The Georgetown Fair Queen program is one of the biggest and best in the State of Illinois and we are thrilled to be the official photographers, so keep watching our blog our summer to follow along with the contestants as they practice for the August pageant to be held on the Georgetown Fairgrounds.  Whether it is doing the a full schedule of appearances, giving out thousands in scholarships, or representing their community with pride at the state pageant, you can always count on the folks at Miss Georgetown to give contestants an amazing summer experiences.

This year the Georgetown Contestant Tea featured a special guest appearance by 2013 Illinois County Fair Queen Amelia Martens.  Crowned in January at the state pageant, the Illinois County Fair Queen spends her summer promoting Illinois agriculture and visiting fairs across the state.  Queen Amelia took a moment to talk about her experience winning the state pageant and reminded all the contestants to be themselves and be confident in their abilities during competition.

Our next visit to Georgetown is coming up soon to do the the official contestant headshots which is always an important day.  After that the weeks will go by fast, and we are looking forward to the fair family dinner, contestant fair walk, and pageant day in August.  We can't wait to meet our new queen, so keep checking back often to see the Georgetown Fair Queen contestants right here at Josh and Joe Travels!
