On Sunday, July 7th we traveled to Georgetown to be part of the 2013 Contestant Tea. The Contestant Tea is the first orientation event for participants in the 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant, and we are excited to know that among the contestants is our next queen. The Georgetown Fair Queen program is one of the biggest and best in the State of Illinois and we are thrilled to be the official photographers, so keep watching our blog our summer to follow along with the contestants as they practice for the August pageant to be held on the Georgetown Fairgrounds. Whether it is doing the a full schedule of appearances, giving out thousands in scholarships, or representing their community with pride at the state pageant, you can always count on the folks at Miss Georgetown to give contestants an amazing summer experiences.
This year the Georgetown Contestant Tea featured a special guest appearance by 2013 Illinois County Fair Queen Amelia Martens. Crowned in January at the state pageant, the Illinois County Fair Queen spends her summer promoting Illinois agriculture and visiting fairs across the state. Queen Amelia took a moment to talk about her experience winning the state pageant and reminded all the contestants to be themselves and be confident in their abilities during competition.
Our next visit to Georgetown is coming up soon to do the the official contestant headshots which is always an important day. After that the weeks will go by fast, and we are looking forward to the fair family dinner, contestant fair walk, and pageant day in August. We can't wait to meet our new queen, so keep checking back often to see the Georgetown Fair Queen contestants right here at Josh and Joe Travels!
