Georgetown Fair Queen: 2014 Queen Desiree Bainbridge at Ping Pong Prize Drop

Ping Pong Prize Drop is one of the coolest events we've ever seen at a county fair, and we've been to a lot of fairs all over the midwest. The Georgetown Fair used a helicopter to drop ping pong balls on a field for kids to pick up like an easter egg hunt, but this past year the helicopter got damaged. So the Georgetown Fair hatched a new plan, and with that plan so goes our queen. Yep, if you were at Ping Pong Prize Drop this year you probably saw Miss Georgetown Fair Queen 2014 Desiree Bainbridge go 100 feet up in the air on the ladder truck with the Danville Fire Department. And it was a lot of fun. There was a the Danville Fire Department ladder truck and another truck with about 50 feet of height, and when they both went up, the ping pong balls came raining down on the fairgrounds just like the kids expected. Miss Georgetown Fair and her court are always at Ping Pong Prize Drop, and this year we were especially glad to get Queen Desiree back on the ground after her adventure up in the sky. And for the record, Queen Desiree is far more brave than her photographers, so we took our pictures from the ground. Keep checking back for more pictures of our week with Miss Georgetown Fair 2014 Desiree Bainbridge right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2014 Queen Desiree Bainbridge at the Illinois State Fair

The Illinois State Fair overlaps with the Georgetown Fair the first week in August, and Friday is always a busy day going to county fair day and then heading back to the Georgetown Fair for ping pong prize drop. All the county fair queens from across the state meet for lunch on the director's lawn, and it is their first chance to meet each other before the state pageant in January. This year was a bit of an adventure because it rained, and rain is the natural enemy of a fair, especially a state fair. It also keeps us from getting as many pictures as we want for a lot of reasons, but we still hope you enjoy this look at Queen Desiree at the Illinois State Fair, and look for more pictures of her first week as the 2014 Georgetown Fair Queen right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2014 Contestants at Fair Family Dinner

Fair Family Dinner is one of our favorite parts of the Georgetown Fair, and it is exciting because it really signals the start of the fair and the it means the pageant is just around the corner. In just a few days Danielle Brown will crown the next Georgetown Fair Queen, and we'll find out who we will be photographing for the next year. We really love all the contestants this year and would be thrilled to have any one of them as queen, and we especially excited by all the contestants entering for the first time. Miss Georgetown Fair 2013 Danielle Brown is probably one of the most knowledgeable, well-spoken fair queens we've seen in years, so is no surprise she got a job right after college graduation and is well on her way to a career advocating and supporting Illinois agriculture. But we can't keep Queen Danielle much longer because we know she has a bright future, plus we know another great Georgetown Fair Queen is waiting to be named at the pageant. Be sure to check back often during fair week to see lots of pictures of the pageant and the 2014 Georgetown Fair Queen, right here at Josh and Joe Travels!
