Georgetown Fair Queen: Desiree Bainbridge crowned Miss Georgetown Fair Queen 2014
Desiree Bainbridge was crowned Miss Georgetown Fair Queen 2014 and will represent Georgetown at the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen pageant held in Springfield in January. We are thrilled to have Queen Desiree as our new Miss Georgetown, and as her official photographers we will be sharing lots of pictures of her year right here at Josh and Joe Travels. If you love our pictures of Miss Georgetown Fair Queen 2014 Desiree Bainbridge, we'd love for you link to our blog, or if you need to copy and image or two, please include a credit line of Copyright 2014 Joshua Sullivan for the Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant whenever possible.
Queen Desiree is from Fairmont and a graduate of Jamaica High School currently studying at Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. First runner-up is Jessica Muehlher and second runner-up is Hunter Marsh. Queen Desiree and her court will be at the Georgetown Fair all this week so be sure to look for them at events like ping pong prize drop and the demo derby, and come say hello if you see us nearby.
Later this week we will visit the Illinois State Fair on county fair day with Queen Desiree where she will meet the other Illinois county fair queens and get a sneak peak at some of things in store for her at the state pageant. And we can't wait to get more pictures of Miss Georgetown Fair Queen 2014 Desiree Bainbridge posted right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2014 Contestant Fairwalk
On the first Sunday of fair week the Georgetown Fair Queen contestants gather at the fairgrounds to learn more about the fair and promote the pageant. And the pageant is right around the corner - we will have a new Miss Georgetown Fair about a day after this post goes up! But don't think our favorite red tractor girl and 2013 Miss Georgetown Fair Danielle Brown is taking the weekend off, because she has had a full schedule of fair events all week. We can't wait to find out who Danielle will crown as the next Georgetown Fair Queen, and we'll be posting pictures of her all week right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2014 Contestants at Fair Family Dinner
Fair Family Dinner is one of our favorite parts of the Georgetown Fair, and it is exciting because it really signals the start of the fair and the it means the pageant is just around the corner. In just a few days Danielle Brown will crown the next Georgetown Fair Queen, and we'll find out who we will be photographing for the next year. We really love all the contestants this year and would be thrilled to have any one of them as queen, and we especially excited by all the contestants entering for the first time. Miss Georgetown Fair 2013 Danielle Brown is probably one of the most knowledgeable, well-spoken fair queens we've seen in years, so is no surprise she got a job right after college graduation and is well on her way to a career advocating and supporting Illinois agriculture. But we can't keep Queen Danielle much longer because we know she has a bright future, plus we know another great Georgetown Fair Queen is waiting to be named at the pageant. Be sure to check back often during fair week to see lots of pictures of the pageant and the 2014 Georgetown Fair Queen, right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: 2014 Queen Contestants visit AMBUCS Summer Camp in Danville
Since getting started at the Queen's Tea early in the summer, the 2014 Georgetown Fair Queen contestants have kept busy with practice and community appearances. One of the best appearances this summer was a chance to be part of the AMBUCS Summer Camp in Danville. Our morning at camp was a total teachers let the monkeys out situation, with kids running around playing in the bounce house, taking turns on a giant slide, making enormous bubbles, and oh yeah, dunking our contestants in the dunk tank. And don't think for a minute the contestants didn't have a blast getting dunked.
AMBUCS puts on a weeklong day camp for kids ages 5-10 and another for young adults age 11-21. The Georgetown contestants were there for kids camp and it was a great day. There are a few qualifications to take part of the summer camp, so check out the Danville AMBUCS website if you live in Danville and might be interested.
The Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant is coming up soon on Monday, August 4th, so keep checking back for all the updates right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: Behind the Scenes at Practice with the 2014 Contestants
Being the Georgetown Fair Queen is a big job, so it's no surprise that the contestants start practicing about a month before the fair week pageant. There are a lot of pageants out there where young women simply show up and compete, but at Miss Georgetown, directors Karen and Jill work hard to make sure everyone young woman is at there best when they finally hit the stage.
We visited a practice just in time to see the contestants working on interview skills and speech competition. If you haven't read some of our post from the Illinois state fair queen pageant, fair queens in Illinois compete in interview, speech and on-stage question, so there is a lot of substance in addition to the things you see on stage like evening gown and swimwear. In Illinois agriculture is very important, and we think Miss Georgetown Fair 2013 Danielle Brown's agriculture knowledge was a big part of what made her a state finalist. But it isn't enough to just know about agriculture - you have to be able to talk about when you make appearances and spend a week at the fairgrounds. Interview and speech help develop those skills.
As the official photographers of the Georgetown Fair Queen, we are having a blast this summer with Queen Danielle and we can't wait to see who she crowns at the pageant in August. Be sure to follow Queen Danielle and the 2014 contestants right here at Josh and Joe Travels!

Georgetown Fair Queen: Danielle Brown visits the 2014 Champaign Fair Queen Pageant
On Saturday, July 12th we were with Miss Georgetown Fair 2013 Danielle Brown as she traveled to Rantoul for the 2014 Champaign Fair Queen Pageant. This year they had five young ladies competing for the title and Madison Frerichs was crowned the 2014 Champaign Fair Queen. Queen Danielle knew Julianne Wallace, the 2013 Champaign Fair Queen, since they competed together at the Illinois state fair queen pageant this past January. Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Summer Robbins was there to assist in the crowning and to remind everyone that Florida Georgia Line will be at the Illinois State Fair this year.
The Champaign Fair Queen Pageant always takes place a few weeks before Georgetown and we can't wait to find out who will be the next Georgetown Fair Queen. Queen Danielle has had a pretty big year as a state finalist and one of the most active local fair queens in the state and we are excited to see her crown the next Miss Georgetown Fair Queen in August. To follow all the adventures of the Georgetown Fair Queen keep checking back right here at Josh and Joe Travels!
