With the Georgetown Fair Queen contestants informational tea coming up on July 8th, we can't help but think of 2011 Queen Alexandria Hannan and her exciting year representing the community of Georgetown. As her official photographers we've had the pleasure of being part of her entourage, and we even got to go with her to Springfield when she visited the 2011 Illinois State Fair.
County fair day at the state fair is a great day, especially if you are a fair queen. Queen Alex got her picture taken with the state fair queen and had lunch with all the other county queens and directors before introducing herself on stage.
After the lunch we spent some time touring the fairgrounds. We got a picture of Queen Alex with the butter cow (we think this is a tradition) and found some other iconic scenes before heading back to Georgetown. Because the Illinois State Fair and the Georgetown Fair take place the same week in August, the Georgetown Fair Queen has a big job to do. Not only does she do the state fair visit, but as the official hostess of her own fair, she heads back to Georgetown the same night for a full schedule. While Miss Georgetown is at the state fair, she counts on her court to hold down the fort at home.
Queen Alexandria competed among the most beautiful and talented young women in Vermilion County to earn the title of Miss Georgetown, and we can't wait to meet all the contestants for the 2012 pageant. Things get going on July 8th at the informational tea, so keep reading our earlier post about Miss Georgetown to find links to the official pageant website, or get in touch with directors Karen Thornsbrough and Jill Pope.
